This Yorkie potty training method is the one that we use and works for any size dog. It is simple and it works.

Nearly every dog house training article that you read tells you the same thing. Crate training your dog is the best way to house train them blah, blah, blah. God that gets old don't you think?

With that being said crate training does work and I believe that every dog should at least get used to a crate (should they need to spend some time at the vet, take an airplane trip or for some other reason) but that's about it.

We use potty pads at the beginning "just in case". All dogs usually go to the bathroom shortly after they wake up after every nap or first thing in the morning. So shortly after they wake up all you have to do is ask them if they want to go outside, take them out and then let them relieve themselves. Tell them what a good boy or good girl they are and then bring them back in (you can let them play for a while if you if you like).

Yorkie puppies (or any breed of dog) will usually have to relieve themselves within 30 minutes after they eat. So then try to keep an eye on them from between 15 and 30 minutes after eating and when they begin to show signs that they are about to go follow the above steps all over again. "Do you want to go outside". After they go tell him or her what a good dog they are and then bring them back inside (once again you can leave them outside to play if you like they do not have to come right back in).

Before you go to bed at night you know what you need to do, ask them if they want to go out side etc. etc. etc. I won't beat you over the head with the rest.

Now at the beginning of this Yorkie potty training article I mentioned potty pads. These puppy potty pads are designed with some sort of scent that encourages them to use it. They are good to have around for the times that you are unable to take them out or just are not really committed to potty training your Yorkie. To get them used to the puppy potty pad is when you see they are about to go just pick them up and place them on the pad. Easy peasy as they say.

Many dogs usually show some type of sign before they go to the bathroom. Many of the will walk around in a circle a few times before they go and some will whine. If you pay attention it will not take you very long to discover your puppies "telltale sign". Once you learn what it is you will be just about there.

Well there you have it. Yorkie potty training made easy. Before you brush it off as just rubbish go ahead and give it a try. It works!!
